Jane Hendricks is an award-winning visual artist and architect practicing in Seattle, Washington.
Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in Fine Arts from Harvard University, and a Master of Architecture degree from University of California, Berkeley. She is a graduate of the Gage Academy of Art atelier program. Jane is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects.
Jane has taught drawing and design at Berkeley, University of Minnesota and University of Washington, and she has served as a guest lecturer and critic at UCLA, Cogswell College, California College of Arts and Kansas State University. Her work is in private collections across the country.
Visual art has been Jane's full time focus since 2017. Her painting practice explores in-between spaces where observation and abstraction intersect and overlap, creating a tension between recognizable image and a more invented expression of color, line, shape and edge. She is interested in investigating how these complex elements can evoke credible space that is also ambiguous. Larger scaled surfaces are an important part of creating this kind of complexity and contradiction within the painting.
Jane is an enthusiastic world traveler, gardener and cook. She is very proud of her two sons.
